Day 6... ...

is the first day of school attachment programme with Ei Primary. The pupils and staff of the school welcomed the delegates in the hall.

After 12 years of eating rice, this is the first time they are meeting its original form

The traditional padi planting is surely hard work just like the lyrics of a song goes

"Plating rice is never fun, bend from morn' til set of sun ... ..."

A demonstration of how automation is being used to efficiently cultivate padi. The delegates were amazed by how the machine makes the back-breaking task so much easier.

After an hour plus of hard work, the delegates were treated to Bakudan, an egg and potato fritter ball which everyone couldn't get enough of.

The delegates then headed back to Ei Primary for their lunch which was in the classroom and by now, they are quite accustomed to the tradition.

The next programme for the day is a visit to the Awaji Police Headquarters to learn more about policing work on the island. The delegates had a warm welcome from the men in blue. They were brought around the building to view the various facilities available.

Everyone received free gifts which comprises of pencil, a file and the photo that was taken earlier

The last activity of the day was a visit to a famous Fukimodoshi (Party Blower) factory in Awaji island. The factory is owned by Mr Takashi Kamijo who demonstrated to the delegates the various types of Fukimodoshi available in his factory. The delegates also had a chance to make their very own Fukimodoshi.

As the lesson ended, the delegates bought various types of Fukimodoshi available and they also did not missed out the chance to try out various creations by Mr Takashi.

With Day 6 ending, the programme is coming to an end. The delegates will be spending their final full day in Japan and will be bidding their host families "Sayonara" tomorrow during a farewell party. More updates then. Please look out for this space for arrival information.
